VI. IMPORTANT
THINGS YOU SHOULD DISCUSS WITH YOUR TA’S
1. How TA’s Divide Up Students So They Only See The Students They Are Responsible For: Please note: These directions are written directly on the TA's home webpage. But they are included here as well for completeness. When a TA logs in, the TA will see a list of TOTAL STUDENTS UNASSIGNED as well as below that TOTAL STUDENTS ASSIGNED TO ME. All the TA has to do to see ON THE TA’S DASHBOARD ONLY THE STUDENTS the TA is responsible for – that is the Total Students Assigned to Me – is click (or check) off a student’s name and CLICK SAVE CHANGES. That is it. This allows the TA to avoid being overwhelmed with unnecessary data – information on students a TA is not responsible for. If someone makes a mistake and another TA takes the wrong student, the TA can see which TA made the mistake by going to MY CLASSES, List All, and click on MY STUDENTS. The TA will see next to the student’s name the TA who has checked that student’s name. If the TA wants the student back, simply ask the other TA to uncheck the student’s name on that TA’s dashboard. 2. Gift of Appreciation for TA’s Help: In appreciation for their assistance with the Community Action Website project, ALL TA’s will get a $50 gift certificate for Amazon.com at the end of the project. These certificates are sent to the teacher at the completion of the Action Period and handed out by him or her. 4. Teachers are able to see to which TAs are, and are not, taking the Project seriously: Teachers can click on MY TEACHING ASSISTANTS and see, by clicking on a specific TAs name, how many times each TA has logged on to the publicanthropology.net website and when. (This allows teachers to see which TAs are, and are not, taking the project seriously.) The last time each of your TAs logged on to the publicanthropology.net website is alos listed on your home page. PLEASE NOTE: It is expected that TAs will log in at least 10 times during the Community Action Project. Since the two weeks of registration (prior to the actual project) and the two and a half weeks of the project itself constitute a total of 31 days, this is not an onerous task. Failure to log in at least 10 times during the 31 days means a TA does not receive the Amazon Gift Certificate normally provided in appreciation for a TA's assistance with the project. 5. We are encouraging Teachers to use a password that allows their TAs to access that Teacher's website. It need not be the teacher's normal one -- just one that is easily remembered by both the teacher and the TAs. This will allow TAs access to various information that they previously were unable to see. Opening the Teacher's website allows the TAs to gain additional information on their students without having to spend thousands of dollars on reprogramming TA websites. All TAs have to do is log on with the email address of their teacher and the agreed upon password to see needed information that exists on their Teacher's home page.
