Walter Williams
Walter Williams worked in museum design for the Georgia Historical
Commission, especially in museums relating to American Indians, 1968-
70.
In 1994 Williams brought together ONE Institute (founded 1956) and
the National Gay and Lesbian Archives, and convinced the University
of
Southern California to offer a two-story 14,000 square foot building
to
house it. The merged organization, ONE National Gay and Lesbian
Archives, is the world's largest library in gay, lesbian, bisexual
and
transgender studies. Public outreach include lectures, symposia,
conferences, film screenings, and cultural performances. Williams
developed a museum on the building's second floor, with exhibits on
GLBT history and culture. In 1996 Williams founded and since
then has been the Editor of the INTERNATIONAL GAY AND LESBIAN
REVIEW, which is the world's first academic journal to be published entirely online.
