1. Chair of Department of Anthropology Repatriation Committee 6 of the last 7 years. 2. Member of Du Bois Legacy Committee, University of Massachusetts. One goal is developing the 5-acre National Landmark W.E.B. Du Bois Boyhood Homesite, owned by UMass. The property is presently an undeveloped piece of woodland at which I have conducted archaeological field schools. 3. Summer Field School in Archaeology. Since 1983 this program has had increasingly sophisticated outreach programs. I have alternated conducting this program with Arthur Keene and Elizabeth Chilton. 4. Officer in the Faculty Union at UMass Amherst, the Massachusetts Society of Professors. The union has taken on issues of affirmative action and privatization of the University along with more traditional issues of bargaining and grievance. I have held various elected offices since 1995. 5 Member, Board of Trustees, Historic Northampton, Inc.
