1. Design and management of a USAID-funded agroforestry project in Haiti. It won the Praxis Award. Launched in the early 1980s, the project lasted 20 years in modified form and funneled income-generating wood seedlings to several hundred thousand Haitian farmers. (Article published in Agroforestry Systems 2004) 2. Contract research (2004) into Haitian child slavery in Haiti itself and in the Dominican Republic. Binational comparative results presented to Dominican and Haitian governments. 3. 400 p. diagnosis of Dominican educational system funded and published in book form in Spanish by FondoMicro, a Dominican agency. A public workshop was organized to discuss the findings, which were also discussed on four Dominican TV programs. (2005) 4. Two months of research on the Gaza Strip in a Jewish desert-farming community in the months preceding involuntary relocation of the farmers. I debriefed USAID / Tel Aviv on possible conflict mitigation strategies. They didn't work. Obviously.
