Center for Global Change & Arctic System Research

The Center for Global Change and Arctic System Research was established as the focal point at the University of Alaska Fairbanks for developing, coordinating and implementing interdisciplinary research and education related to the role of the Arctic and sub-Arctic in the Earth system, and to stimulate and facilitate global change research in this region. The Center's Arctic Climate Impact Assessment or ACIA, for example, is an international project under the auspices of the Arctic Council with the goal to evaluate and synthesize knowledge on climate variability, climate change, and increased ultraviolet radiation and their consequences. The aim is to provide useful and reliable information to the governments, organizations and peoples of the Arctic on policy options to meet such changes.
