Institute for the Convservation of Tropical Environments

The Institute encourages and promotes scientific research, training, and conservation. However, beyond facilitating the research of scientists from around the world, ICTE also initiates projects that advance conservation and education efforts and scientific discovery. Our current projects will increase research capacity in Madagascar, increase our understanding of the biology of the tropics, and help perserve this unique and wonderful habitat.

Latin American and Caribbean Studies

The LACS (Latin American and Caribbean Studies) Center at SUNY-Stony Brook serves to enhance and focus the interests of students, faculty, graduate students and the larger New York regional community concerned with Latin American and Latino issues. The LACS mission goes beyond traditional “Area Studies”: it is to connect our diverse local interests around Latino and Latin American issues to dynamic global scholarship and developments across our Hemisphere. LACS is initiating academic exchange programs with major research institutions in Latin America--in Mexico, Peru and Argentina.

Institute for Long Island Archaeology

The Institute is a research , educational, and applied organization affiliated with the Department of Anthropology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. It conducts research into Long Island's prehistoric and historic past, sponsors a summer field school, and operates an active program of cultural research management.
