Departmental & Inter-Departmental Programs

Graduate Certificate in Media and Modernity

The program in media and modernity promotes the interdisciplinary study of the unique cultural formations that came to prominence during the last century, with special attention paid to the interplay between culture and technology: the program centers on architecture, art, film, photography, literature, philosophy, music, history, and media from radio to information technology. The graduate certificate offers students from a wide range of fields -- architecture to computer science, visual arts to anthropology, literature to political theory -- the opportunity to enrich and broaden their study through participation in the interdisciplinary activities of the program.

Graduate Certificate in Health and Health Policy

Starting in 2003-04, the Woodrow Wilson School will offer a new Certificate in Health and Health Policy, sponsored by the Center for Health and Wellbeing. The Certificate will train graduate students for careers in health-related areas in the public and not-for-profit sectors. The program is designed for students with domestic and international health interests, and provides both broad training in core topics in health and health policy as well as courses in specialized areas.

Graduate Certificate in Demography

The Office of Population Research has concentrated on research about both domestic and international population policy and basic demographic methods. It offers a graduate certificate drawning on the academic disciplines of economics, sociology, statistics/biostatistics, psychology, anthropology, and demography. Students take courses on such topics as Population Policy, Population and Development, Population, Environment, and Health, and Health Care Policy in Developing Countries.
