Frederika Kaestle Involved in public presentations of genetic research, including teaching courses at IUB's summer MiniUniversities (e.g. forensic genetics, ancient DNA, and behavioral genetics) and presentations to local groups such as the AIA. Ancient DNA analysis and comment on the ancient Kennewick Man Remains for National Parks Service, including publication of two reports (see http://www.cr.nps.gov/aad/kennewick/index.htm).
Sarah Phillips Founder and Director of The June Phillips Memorial Mission to Ukraine, a US-based non- profit humanitarian organization. Since 1999, the JPMMU has provided assistance to a range of disadvantaged persons in Ukraine, especially adults and children with disabilities. In addition to overseeing these projects, I conduct fundraising activities and maintain a website. Author of an ethnographic video, “Shapes in the Wax: Tradition and Faith among Folk Medicine Practitioners in Rural Ukraine” (2004, 55 minutes). Published an article in a popular Ukrainian newspaper about my research on disability in Ukraine: “Living in a Parallel World: Disability in Post-Soviet Ukraine.” Povir u Sebe (Believe in Yourself), December 3, 2002 (in Ukrainian). Profiled in the Indiana University Homepages, in an article entitled “Learning from Disaster,” which highlights my research and teaching on Chernobyl (October 14, 2005).
Daniel Suslak I gave a public lecture at the Biblioteca Burgoa (Oaxaca City, Oaxaca, Mexico) on December 16, 2005. Then on December 18, 2005 I did an hour-long radio interview for “Voces Indígenas” on 92.1 FM Radio Plantón (Oaxaca City). Both concerned my research on Mixe and other Oaxacan Languages.
