4a. & 4b.   This young man has been hit by pretty much everything that biology and political economy have to offer. Sick with both HIV and disseminated TB (he also has tuberculous peritonitis, which is why his abdomen balloons out), he ended up an inpatient for a long time. In these two photos, he’s resting on his way to my office: because he’s co-infected with HIV, his bed is not near our TB ward.
